DG Food visited Modern Food Storage Facilities Project  Office 

Mr. Sarwar Mahmud, the Director-General (Additional Secretary) of Directorate General of Food visited the Project Management Unit of Modern Food Storage Facilities Project (MFSP) on 10 February 2020. Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim Sheikh, Project Director of MFSP welcomed her at PMU and discussed elaborately the overall progress status of the project in a review meeting held at the conference room of the project.

During the discussion, the Project Director highlighted the component-wise progress specifically construction progress of three steel silos under package W-3, distribution of 5 lakh household silo in 63 upazillas and Food Storage & Market Monitoring System through IT connectivity among Central level and field level. He also informed the Director-General about the outcome of a meeting held recently with the Implementation support mission of the World Bank regarding progress status and additional financing for revision of DPP. 

Mr. Sarwar Mahmud, the Director-General (Additional Secretary) of Directorate General of Food stressed the need for proper implementation of the project to ensure sufficient food grain reserve at the national and household level to meet the post-disaster needs and improve the efficiency of grain storage management. In response to the delaying of project implementation, Project Director explained the reasons behind delaying progress for some components.

 Director-General of Directorate General of Food asked to all concerned for providing sincere efforts and cooperation in time-based and output based implementation of MFSP.
